“Seed Starting Demystified” is the featured program of the Trevose Horticultural Society’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road, Bensalem.

If you have never started seeds indoors, or you have tried and failed, this presentation is for you. Bucks County Master Gardener Joan Pavlica will describe everything you need to know to successfully start seeds indoors. Her PowerPoint program will include interpreting seed packet information, choosing soil medium and containers, transplanting, fertilizing and hardening off seedlings for outdoor planting.

Since Pavlica became a Penn State Master Gardener in 2013, her many volunteer activities include chair of the Container Garden, membership in the Speaker’s Bureau, conducting in-person workshops and answering home gardening questions on the Garden/Watershed Hotline. She has written the Master Gardener article in the Upper Bucks Free Press for seven-plus years along with a fellow Master Gardener.

A graduate of the Penn State Master Watershed Steward Training Program, Pavlica has participated in many activities at Nockamixon State Park. Pavlica enjoys sharing her interests with presentations on container gardening, native plants for pollinators, seed starting and raising succulents. In her spare time, she tends to her four raised bed gardens and loves to cook and bake with fresh veggies.

All meetings are open to the public; a donation of $5 is requested from non-members. For more information, contact 856-866-9163, visit trevosegardeners.org or follow on Facebook.
